Welcome to the community!

Thank you. Nice to meet you all.

Hello,

Happy to be here!
I am from norway, and not really skilled in writing english, but here goes

At the moment I am reading a book about Sacred geometry (not fiction), and Gaimans The ocean at the end of the lane.

My food truck would make all kinds of food that I would want to eat. For the moment, grilled lamb, brownies, good juices and kalestew and pasta, always pasta.

My best time for writing is in the morning, before the movement of the day occupies all my neurons.

My name is Jennifer Rupp. I publish under the name Jennifer Trethewey.
I read everything, but I particularly enjoy historical fiction.
I would sell tacos or cupcakes. Both are “the perfect food.”
I write between 8am and 3pm because, like the Duchess of Bedford, I get that sinking feeling around 3pm and I need my tea.

Hi everyone!

What do I like to read? Lots of things. I have what I call my Holy Shelf, which are basically the books I love the most. They include If On A Winter’s Night A Traveler by Italo Calvino; Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison; Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep by P. K. Dick; and No Directions by James Hanley. I’m nearly finished with the Percy Jackson series and am currently reading both Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte and Neal Stephenson’s Snow Crash. I’ve also challenged myself to read at least one poem every day this year. So far so good

What kind of food truck would I have? Okay, there’s this little hole in the wall souvlaki stand embedded in a strip mall on a side street off the main drag in Kifissia, Greece, one of Athens’ many suburbs. It is so small that the place is all kitchen. There’s no inside counter or anything, just a Dutch door where you order and pay. There’s a couple of tables scattered on the sidewalk if you want to sit there and eat but nobody really does. You just take you food and go. I haven’t been there in twenty years and it’s still the benchmark for every other souvlaki I’ve had since. If I could clone that place and put it on wheels I would. More people ought to have the opportunity to enjoy such an experience.

The best time to write? After midnight. I’m very much a night owl, in fact I rarely get tired before 3 or 4 in the morning, often later. Also, I’m one of those people with a perpetual rave going on in their head so it usually takes me a long time to sort my thoughts before I can put anything on paper. That’s what I do during the day while I’m doing other things. Then at night when the world is at its quietest I’m able to settle my mind enough to focus and write.

Kalo Sorizo, and Welcome! You had me at Philip and souvlaki. I used to frequent a very similar set-up in San Francisco though they had a shelf down one wall where you could stand and eat. I, too, like to write late into the night. I can see downtown from my window and the stillness is inspiring.

Hello everybody.
I like to read historical fiction based on true events, especially African American history.

If I owned a food truck I would sell and EAT collard greens, baked chicken, sweet potatoes, and very fresh green salad with lots of veggies. For dessert I’d sell apple bundt cake and almond butter cookie. --But not too many- too much sugar.

I need to write early in the morning, because my days are usually full and I’m a zombie at night.

Hi! my name is Elaine. This seems like a friendly and varied group.

I enjoy reading a variety of things such as historical fiction, light fantasy, humorous stories, Christian novels if they have good plots and characterization, and middle grade (adventure, fantasy or time travel), and whatever non-fiction interests me at the moment–mostly Christian books or books about writing. I don’t care much for romance or horror or strictly SF (because I have too little science background).

The question about the food truck is hard to answer because I keep thinking I don’t want to make that or wouldn’t be good at making it, or I don’t think that would sell well here. How about if I just come to other people’s food trucks, especially the Mexican or soups or fried chicken?

I write whenever I get around to it–usually afternoon or evening. I’m not a scheduled or early morning person.

Hi! My name is Ahana C. and I’m a preteen author, blogger and guitarist. Super excited to be here!

  1. I like to read mostly middle-grade fantasy which does NOT include crushes… I also take to history and spiritual non-fiction.
  2. If I owned a food truck (yum!) it would sell any kind of food I DON’T like because if it sold something like chicken nuggets, I’d eat them all myself. Which would be bad.
  3. The best hour for writing is around 5 PM right after practicing the guitar, and at 12 PM before lunch. Writing when I’m alone with only me earphones, laptop and a chocolate bar is THE ideal hour for me.

Hi, I’m Judy from California.
Currently I’m reading Karin Slaughter’s Crime Thrillers and some of the Goosebumps books. Normally I like romance and fantasy best.
If I owned a food truck it would sell non-gluten vegan stuff because that’s what I can eat. Yummy tacos sounds like just the thing!
My best hours for writing are between 4 am and noon because after that I’m focused on household chores and obligations.

I love to read contemporary women’s fiction, thrillers, historical fiction, magical realim and the classics (Jane Austen is my rock star) and short stories.

If I owned a food truck I would sell savory and sweet pancakes and cupcakes

I get up every weekday morning at 4am and write until 6.30am - so the wee hours of the morning is the best time for me to write.

I love to read anything that arrests me. I’ll read the backs of cereal boxes, almond milk cartons and notes written on scraps blowing in the wind. I love reading psychological suspense, urban fantasy, mystery, poetry, etc.
I would sell super donuts in my food truck: glazed, cake and filled :-).
The best hour for writing is in the early morning when the world is blue.

I love history; the more ancient, the better. This would include big coffee table books on art/artist. I also read a lot of fiction - mainly historical and paranormal romance, suspense, dark comedy, and horror.
If I owned a food truck, I’d sell a variety of sandwiches, like banh mi, meatball sandwiches, BBQ rib, tuna melts, etc.
The best hour for writing? If I’m not at work, anytime when the urge hits me. Which is a lot.

I love to anything that explores the human condition, emotions, and consequences. My last two reads were Courting Shadows by Jem Pister and Never Let Me Go by K. Ishiguro
My food van would sell vegan cakes and coffee.
The best time to write for me is the morning, but essentially, whenever there is no one (that you know) around. A coffee shop is fine if it’s filled with strangers

I’ll read just about anything but my favorites are historical fiction & historical mysteries (if those like Chandler & Hammett can be counted as historical mysteries). Follow that with fantasy, pure history, Asian philosophy (mostly Taoism these days), and mythology.

My dream for food trucks is my special recipe for pinto beans with ham hocks, and a chunk of good bread. Some Tabasco sauce for spice. Price it low, for the masses. I’d take it to construction sites because I used to do that when young.

The best hour for writing is when I’m motivated to do some. For me, forced writing is dry writing. So this could be any hour of the day or night. I’m also a pantser.

Hi Everyone! I’m Nancy. I’m new here.
I read a lot! I love poetry and fiction. I read and write both.
If I owned a food truck I’d probably settle on a coffee and snack food truck.
The best hour for writing is first thing in the morning, just before dawn because no one else in my house is up yet.
