Hi. My favorite thing to read is urban fantasy written in first person perspective. I think I would like my food truck to have a rotating menu; Taco Tuesdays, Fried Chicken Wednesdays, Burger Thursdays, Stir-Frydays… The best time for me to write is either early in the morning or evenings because it is less distracting to write while everyone else is asleep or busy.

- The best hour for writing is ___, because __.
Early morning. Because the world is new and quiet.
-
I like to read science fiction and fantasy.
-
If I owned a food truck, it would serve soylent green.
-
The best hour for writing is 25:00 because that’s when the strange comes out.
Helloooo…Laura here. From Canada, but lived for 15 years in Holland, hence my handle (it’s “Mrs.” in Dutch)
I’m a former ad copywriter and expat blogger who’s a bit late to the party; thanks to the pandemic, I have no excuse not to write the novel that’s been swimming around in my head for a few decades.
-
What do you like to read?
I’m a sucker for a good rock star romance lately, but like women’s fiction, historical fiction, music (auto)biographies, Victorian fiction. Not a fantasy/sci-fi/horror person so much. Real life is weird enough for me. -
If you owned a food truck, what kind of food would it sell?
Trashy Canadian-“Chinese Food” circa the 1970s -

I write all day, but tend to read at night. I’m in lockdown with my 90-year-old dad so don’t have much else to do!
-
Many topics attract my interest and I gravitate towards PC gaming discussions, and just about anything to do with art, history, philosophy, geography, food cultures, space, technology and possible futures. But I shouldn’t lie–anything humorous gets moved to my must consume ASAP pile. Some favorite inspirations in my life: Robert Arneson the ceramicist, Connie Willis the writer, George Carlin for his comedic monologues, and PJ Harvey for her song lyrics.
-
I’d sell sandwiches wrapped in one-liner jokes and micro-fiction, preferably delivered by smirking staff.
-
My life’s plagued by needy animals and an emotionally fragile spouse. So? I write when they’re sleeping… or well fed… or both. Times vary.
Good morning all (it’s 3:24am my time, and since the seminar had a break, I’ve found myself here). I’m a video game writer and novelist living in Japan.
-
I like reading a variety of books, but I’m currently into apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic books at the moment, with some steampunk on the side.
-
I’d be selling cotton candy (and trying to make it coffee and tea flavored)
-
The best hour for writing is midafternoon. I’m done catching up with social media, emails, etc. and haven’t yet gone into the editing part of the day. And I also have coffee to drink.
Nice to meet you all, and thanks for the community!
Hi! My name is Charlotte. I recently attended the Style and Voice Summit that ended on Monday, and I was so impressed that I decided to join this community in the hope that I can learn even more!
-
I like to read poetry, short stories, and novels. One of my favorite writers is Haruki Murakami.
-
If I owned a food truck, I would sell brownies—the fudgy kind, not the cake-like kind.
-
The best hour for writing is whenever I’m awake, which is usually during the afternoon and evening hours.
I’m coming over to your food truck just to yell out what soylent green is made from!
What do you expect? I’m a people person.
You had me at “fudgey” . . .
Well, everyone knows that a brownie has to be rich. Katherine Hepburn certainly did!
If a brownie is more like a standard chocolate cake (that is, not the death-by-chocolate kind), you might as well eat a piece of that cake instead. That’s my brownie philosophy, anyway. I know there are people that like cake-like brownies out there, but I have yet to actually meet any of them!
Hello! I’m Nadine, and I write fiction for children and teens.
I’m enrolled in Daniel’s Plot Your Novel course. I will say this course has been a real game changer for the novel I’m currently working on! Thanks, Daniel!
I like to read Picture Books, Middle Grade and Young Adult fiction. I can’t pick favorites, but if I had a very tiny bookshelf, it would definitely include books by Shaun Tan, Emily Gravett, Cressida Cowell, Frances Hardinge, Jonathan Stroud, Maggie Stiefvater, and Anna-Marie McLemore.
If I owned a food truck, it would be all about the breakfast Choose omelettes with mozzarella and sauté spinach and cherry tomatoes, or croissants with parmesan cheese sprinklered with sage and oregano; fresh carrot juice with turmeric, or hot cappuccino with dark chocolate bites.
The best hour for writing is that one marked on my calendar, twice or thrice a week, usually Sundays 3pm to 4pm, Mondays 7am to 8am, sometimes Wednesdays 10pm to 11pm, whatever I can manage between my family and my day job (and my self-care). Time does not matter. What matters is my pre-commitment to my work-in-progress and my deliberate excitement for our date.
Looking forward to being part of this community!
Yay Middle Grade! The world needs more Middle Grade! Young readers are hard to please, but once they’re hooked, their love for reading continues for life.
I applaud you for writing whenever you have a few minutes! We would all get more writing done if we could follow your model. And I agree, there are Many Good foods!!
Introduction:
I like to read Christian fiction (historical, time slip, suspense, contemporary, speculative, fantasy) and nonfiction (Christian living, some Bible study, curriculum–although I’d rather be writing my own). Favorite authors: Davis Bunn, Madeleine L’Engle, Melanie Dobson, Jim Rubart, Robert Benson, Francine Rivers, Ted Dekker.
If I had a food truck, it would sell… baked goods. I like to bake (and eat), but it would have to be a perfect world where they would be calorie-free.
The best hour for writing is whenever it’s quiet and I can get “in the zone,” which might be morning or afternoon. Rarely evening, although I can brainstorm sometimes in the evening if fueled by chocolate.
You want me to introduce myself? Wow! Are you opening Pandora’s Box with that. Me is my all-time favorite subject to write/talk about. Hey! Wait! Don’t run! I’m only kidding.
My name is Jerry, but, as I always say, you can call me anything you want so long as you don’t call me late for breakfast, lunch or supper or for any snacks in between. I’m on a “see” food diet, I see it, I eat it.
What do I like to read? Why couldn’t you think of a harder question for me to answer? Mostly, if I see it, I’ll read it. I became a certified bookworm at nine when I received a complete set of Zane Grey western novels for Christmas. My hunger for books is as insatiable as my hunger for food. Today I read an average of two or three books every week, and that’s not counting the ones I write. I’ve earned my living for the past 40+ years, ghosting books and articles for clients in the electric and electronics industries.
If I owned a food truck, what kind of food would I sell? An impossible question for me to answer. I’m on a “see” food diet, remember. Besides, I would go broke no matter what kind of food truck it was because I would eat more than I sold.
Ah, last question. I’m an early bird, up at 4 in the morning and never to bed before 11 at night. I’m most alert between 4 a.m. and noon, so that’s when I do most of my real writing and illustrating (I illustrate the books I ghost as well as write them), spend my afternoons doing research, and my evenings reading for pleasure.
OK! OK! Put the gun down, I’ll shut up… for now.
I get caught up in phases in my reading. Larely my direcrion is YA dystopia with young woman leads. Otherwise, I tend toward women writers that are character driven. The reason for both choices is that I don’t want to read violent or heavily sexual scenes. Not because I’m a prude, but books that lead in those areas often have no substance. to me anyway.
Food truck- I’d have my son-in-law cook what ever he wants.
Morning time, after my coffee.
Hi. I’m Annette and I like Fantasy and Sci-Fi. But I will read most anything if I have a good recommendation. I also like mystery and crime.
Welcome to the group, Annette!
Hi everyone, I’m Francesca, from Italy. I don’t know if it is weird I have always written in English.
Anyway… I read a lot, I started reading mysteries as a kid, then had a huge phase that lasted fromy my 14yo till my 17yo during which I only read Stephen King, and other masters of horror.
Now I read mostly fantasy and sci-if novels. I enjoy the occasional romantic novel and historic novel.
If I owned and food truck… I never thought of that, but I would imagine it would be some sort of patisserie food truck.
For me the best hour for writing is the middle of the night, because it’s quiet. Also because my mind seems to come up with the best images and ideas when I’m almost to fall asleep. And it doesn’t matter how tired I am, I can’t sleep when all those ideas are begging me to be written down.
