Great writing in a computer game: Sunless Sea

A game I love playing for the narrative / storytelling / feeling of uncanny strangeness:

Sunless Sea:

LOSE YOUR MIND. EAT YOUR CREW. Take the helm of your steamship and set sail for the unknown! Sunless Sea is a game of discovery, loneliness and frequent death…

It sounds interesting, I may need to look into it.
I’m currently revisiting the third Dragon Age game. It’s a very story-driven series where your choices matter and the characters are great.

A million years ago I got involved in Role Playing games in Second Life and I took a basic creative writing class there.

It was interesting to be dropped into a world that had already been created, design your character, and then get swept up into a story that was already in progress.

I’m not sure what is currently offered or how role playing has changed since then but there was wide variety of worlds/genres offered. Just reading about the rules of each world is a fascinating guide to world building and they usually offer character building sheets that often have very interesting ideas for creating characters that I’ve never thought about before.

I also enjoyed wandering around inside the created world.
